MASTER INSTRUCTOR:                                            

Don Rethage, owner of American Karate, started training in 1977 while in the United States Air Force at Dover A.F.B., Delaware.  After spending 18 months at Kadena A.B. in Okinawa, he found that cross training in other styles makes for a well rounded student.  Mr. Rethage holds Black Belts in Isshinryu Karate, Alemany Kenpo, Kemscrima-Doh, and Doce Pares Eskrima.  His current rank is 8th degree Black Belt, promoted by Grandmaster Rick Alemany.  Mr. Rethage was inducted into the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2006 in the category of Mixed Martial Arts Master.  Mr. Rethage has trained with some of the top instructors in their respected disciplines:
